Although Gary and Petra are now retired on Vancouver Island, they are certified Heart & Stroke Foundation Instructors and are looking forward to teaching their accredited courses.

Gary Taylor

Work History

Gary has over 35 years of extensive paramedicine experience in Alberta including being Acting Superintendent of Staffing, Operations, and Communications for the province.

In an effort to give back later in his career, he spent 7 years as a clinical educator for the province. He has maintained his status an Advanced Care Paramedic in BC and as an EMT-P in Alberta.

Petra Taylor

Work History

Petra worked for 5 years as an EMT-P with the City of Calgary before accepting a position as the Executive Assistant to the Chief of EMS.

While working as an Exec Asst., Petra studied at Royal Roads University (RRU) obtaining a Masters of Arts in Leadership degree. She then applied the leadership theories learned at RRU in her role as Supervisor of Operations to help her communicate with her team of practitioners and fellow supervisors. She has maintained her status an ACP in B.C. and as an EMT-P in Alberta.
